SAN FRANCISCO —
The University of San Francisco Athletics Department, in conjunction with PFLAG San Francisco, announced today that the two entities will join to celebrate Pride Night when the USF women's basketball team hosts the University of Portland on Thursday, Feb. 21.

"The USF campus is one of the top campuses in the nation for advocacy and equality, a trend that echoes the city in which we reside," said USF Athletics Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement Vinnie Longo. "The Athletics Department is happy to serve as a conduit to deliver the message of inclusivity we are hoping to create with this event."

The promotion will include a giveaway of USF Pride T-Shirts to the first 200 fans through the doors of War Memorial at the Sobrato Center, as well as booths and resources from organizations throughout the local LGBTQ+ community.

"PFLAG San Francisco is very excited to partner with USF to bring Pride Night to the Hilltop," said PFLAG San Francisco Board President Kenda Horst. "Public education is one of the forefront parts of PFLAG's mission statement, and we believe that working together with the USF Athletics Department will serve as a great way to spread our message of respect."

The event will serve as USF's first LGTBQ+ Pride event this year. Tip-off between the Dons and the Pilots will be at 7 p.m. with gates opening at 6 p.m.
