MBB | Dons Set Single Game Record From Three in Win Over Roadrunners

SAN FRANCISCO – With 11 seconds in regulation Trevante Anderson hit a 3-point field at the top of the key as the shot clock was about to expire. The shot provided the University of San Francisco two things: their second 100 points scoring total of the season and their 19th 3-point field goal of the evening, a new USF single game record.  The Dons (5-0) were red hot from distance as they shot their way to a 100-70 victory over visiting CSU Bakersfield (2-3) on Tuesday evening at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.

USF had five players finish in double figures and were led by Charles Minlend and Remu Raitanen's game-high 19 points.  Raitanen had a career-night for the Dons going 5-for-7 from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 from 3-point range. As a team, the Dons were 19-for-25 from beyond the arc, a blistering 76.0 percent from long range.

Minlend finished 7-for-9 from the floor and 3-for-4 from 3-point range.  Jamaree Bouyea fell two assists shy of a double-double finishing with 17 points and a career-high eight assists. Jordan Ratinho added 13 and Dzmitry Ryuny had 11.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Dons jumped out to an early eight point lead thanks to an 8-0 run to start the contest.  USF took a big 14 point lead going up 20-6 before turnovers helped the Roadrunners cut the USF lead to three after going on a 12-1 run midway through the half.

• The Dons closed the half on their biggest run of the night, going on a 23-8 run to go into the locker room with a 47-28 lead.  The 3-point shot provided the spark for the Dons, finishing the half 10-for-13 from beyond the arc.

• In the second half the Dons kept the offensive fireworks going. USF had five players in double figures by the under 12 media timeout, following 3-point field goals from Ryuny and Raitanen.

• The second half belonged to USF's reserves.  Raitanen was 3-for-3 from the floor in the second half – all threes.  The lone blemish of his otherwise perfect stat line – a missed free throw.  As a team, the Dons shot a tick better from the charity stripe than they did from long range, going 19-for-24 from the free throw line.

NOTABLE NUMBERS
5-0: With the win, head coach Todd Golden becomes the first head coach at USF to win his first five games since William Bussenius went 7-0 to start the 1945-46 season.
15: With his eight assists tonight Jamaree Bouyea has 15 assists in his last two games. The junior guard is averaging 4.8 assists per game and boasts an absurd 4.0 assist to turnover ratio.
19: The 19 3-point field goals by the Dons is the new single game record, the previous record was 18 set at Eastern Washington on Nov. 27, 2016 in a 96-90 loss.
20: The Dons had a season-high 20 assists on the night – nine different players tallied at least one assist.
46: USF's bench finished with 46 points tonight, four shy of their season-high of 50 set against Sonoma State.  The Dons' reserves are averaging 33.2 points per game this season.
100: For the second time this season, the Dons scored 100 points. This is USF's first 100 point game against a Division I opponent since they defeated Portland 107-97 on Dec. 31, 2015.  The Dons have scored 100 points 81 times in program history and are now 75-6 when scoring 100 or more.
