Fourth Seeded Dons Depart for Las Vegas for WCC Tournament

SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco men's basketball team departs for Las Vegas this afternoon as they get ready for Saturday's quarterfinal game in the West Coast Conference Tournament. This marks the 32nd year of the WCC Tournament, the 11th it has been hosted at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
The fourth seeded Dons will have to wait to find out who their opponent is for Saturday's contest. It will be the winner of No. 5 LMU vs. No. 8 Pepperdine/No. 9 Pacific. The Dons do have some history with all three teams and all three seeds.
This is the ninth time in the tournaments history that the Dons have earned the fourth seed, they are 2-9 overall. Last season they went 1-1 as the fourth seed. In quarterfinal games, the Dons are 5-10. Last year in the quarterfinals the Dons defeated Pacific 71-70 in overtime.
Against the Lions, USF is 5-2 in the WCC Tournament. USF is 2-0 against Pacific, but just 1-7 against Pepperdine. At the Orleans Arena, the Dons are 6-10 overall and are 18-31 in the WCC Tournament which started in 1987.
Saturday's game will be televised on ESPN2 with Dave Feldman and Sean Farnham on the call, as always fans can tune in to the official home of USF Dons Basketball, 1550-AM The GAME to hear Pat Olson and Jim Brovelli handling play-by-play duties.
Pacific and Pepperdine tip tonight at 6:00 p.m. with the winner advancing to take on the Lions on Friday on 6:00 p.m.
