SAN FRANCISCO – University of San Francisco women's soccer head coach
Jim Millinder is pleased to announce the addition of Madison Reid for the 2019 season. Reid, a midfielder, will complete the Dons' recruiting class for this season.
"Madison is a very technical midfielder, and a great possession player," said Millinder. "She has a terrific appetite to play. I think she will be very good at the next level. If she comes and works hard, I think she can help us right away. I really like her."
The native of Los Alamitos, Calif., is a four-time letter winner for head coach Pat Rossi at powerhouse Los Alamitos High School. In 2018, Reid was a co-captain for the Griffins and helped guide her team to a 28-2-4 overall record and an appearance in the CIF Southern California Regional Championship Game while being ranked as high as No. 5 in the nation and No. 2 in the state, according to MaxPreps.com
She finished the season with 15 points on four goals and seven assists. She recorded an assist in the Griffins' 1-0 win over Harvard-Westlake in the semifinal of the CIF playoffs. The two-time First Team All-Sunset League honoree finished 89-16-13 in four seasons and boasted back-to-back undefeated Sunset League championships. She also lettered in track and field for Los Alamitos.
On the club scene, Reid played for Strikers FC ECNL under coaches Terri Patraw and Abner Rogers. The club was the 2018 Blues Cup runner-up.
Reid also excelled in the classroom. She was named to the Honor Roll all four years in high school and was a four-time Scholar-Athlete. She was named to the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
She chose USF because of the school's stellar academics and beautiful campus. Says the best thing about being a student-athlete is having best friends that are also teammates. Her hobbies include watching Netflix, going to the beach and eating In-N-Out. If she could travel anywhere in the world she would like to visit Tahiti. If she wasn't playing sports she would be a dancer. After she graduates, she plans to travel the world.
Reid joins the Dons' stellar recruiting class that includes Keely Roy, Megan Nail, Kaylin Lunsford, Jamesen Ward, Tia Catalano, Mariah Diaz, and Halle Watson. The Dons open their 2019 campaign with an exhibition match against Sonoma State in Rohnert Park. The official season begins on Aug. 24 against USC in Hawaii.
