SAN BRUNO – The West Coast Conference has formally announced the WCC slate of games for the 2019-20 men's basketball season. In the conference's second year implementing a 16-game format, the Dons' conference schedule will include eight home contests and another eight on the road. USF will once again be faced with key home and road contests against Gonzaga, Saint Mary's and BYU.
Conference play will begin on January 2 and run through February 29 and, for the second consecutive year, the Dons will begin WCC play at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center taking on Saint Mary's.
The game against the Gaels will be first year head coach
Todd Golden's inaugural conference matchup and will come against his alma mater, adding a new level of drama to the cross-bay rivalry. The early matchup also gives the Dons a rare opportunity for a marquee victory as the Gaels are one again expected to compete for a NCAA Tournament bid.
On Jan. 4 the Dons will make their first road trip in WCC play when they travel to the Rose City to take on Portland at the Chiles Center. The following weekend the Dons will return to the Bay Area for a home/road split, first hosting rival Santa Clara on Jan. 9 before traveling to Stockton to take on Pacific.
The Dons will be off on Thursday, Jan. 18 and will wait for the arrival of LMU on Saturday, Jan. 18. The contest against the Lions will be a double-header with women's basketball hosting Gonzaga. USF will wrap up January with a road contest against Saint Mary's on Jan. 23 followed by a home contest against BYU on Jan. 25 and then return to the road for USF's only contest against USD in San Diego on Thursday, Jan. 30.
February will open with the Dons hosting Gonzaga on Feb. 1. The following weekend the Dons will host Pacific on Thursday, Feb. 6 before traveling to Provo for a Saturday game against BYU on Feb. 8.
The Dons will make the short trip down to Santa Clara to take on the Broncos on Feb. 13, their only game of the week. The final weekend of WCC play will see the Dons hosting Portland on Senior night, Feb. 27 and return to the road for a contest at LMU on Feb. 29.
