SAN FRANCISCO - The 11th annual Battle in the Bay Classic came to an end today, Sep. 22. The University of San Francisco men's and women's tennis teams closed out the final day in extra singles matches.

"The Dons did a great job today at the Battle extra singles matches," said men's head coach Pablo Pires de Almeida. "The guys showed great spirit today overall and support."

Nitzan Ricklis took down his Georgia opponent in the extra singles 7-6(2), 6-3 while Mitch Johnson battled against San Diego and finished with a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0(8) win.

On the women's side, Mya Bui came away with a win in the extra singles, defeating her opponent 7-6(4), 7-6(4).

"Our team did a great job competing today," said women's head coach Peter Bartlett. "The entire weekend the team has been gaining experience each match. This tournament was a great experience for our team. Being the hosts we felt we represented and competed hard each match. We are looking forward to this Fall and improving each tournament."
