MALIBU, Calif. - The University of San Francisco men's tennis team dropped another heartbreaker on the road against Pepperdine on Sunday, January 19. The Dons ended up falling 2-4 to the Waves.
"The Dons are proud of the way the we competing," said head coach
Pablo Pires de Almeida. "Now, we just need to be a little cleaner at the end of sets. The guys wanting to win and are showing that they are ready to have a great season."
USF dropped the doubles point when
Johan Garpered and
Mitch Johnson, and
Phuc Huynh and
Paul Giraud fell 2-6 and 3-6, respectively.
Nitzan Ricklis and Ori Maior's match went unfinished at 4-4.
Pepperdine managed to lead the Dons 3-0 after dropped sets from Garpered (4-6, 1-6) and Huynh (5-7, 6-2). Maior (6-4, 6-2) and Ricklis (6-2, 5-7, 6-1) put the Dons on the board with wins on their courts, but the Waves clinched the 4-2 win after a dropped set from Giraud (4-6, 6-7). Johnson's match went unfinished at 4-6, 6-4, 5-2.
