SAN FRANCISCO - The University of San Francisco men's tennis team bounced back after dropping the doubles point today and took the 4-3 win over UC Davis.
"Overall, today showed great effort from the Dons and big improvements from last weekend," said head coach
Pablo Pires de Almeida. "We need to build off of this and continue to be focused on being better at controlling what we can and letting go of what we can't."
To start the day,
Phuc Huynh and
Paul Giraud dropped their doubles match 4-6, but
Nitzan Ricklis and Ori Maior tied it up with a 6-3 win on their court. However, the doubles point went to the Aggies after
Mitch Johnson and
Johan Garpered fell 4-6.
UC Davis took its lead to 2-0 when Johnson dropped his match 2-6, 3-6, but the Dons got on the board with a 7-6, 6-2 win from Ricklis. Giraud tied up the score 2-2 after a 7-6, 6-4 win on his court and the Dons took the lead with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win from Garpered. The score got tied up at 3-3 when Huynh fell 6-4, 6-7, 1-6 but Maior clinched the match for the Dons when he won 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 on his court.
