SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco women's basketball team is pleased to announce the addition of 6-foot, 4-inch forward Lorena Anunciacao from Gloria Azedia Bonetti in Brazil, who signed a National Letter of Intent in the early signing period.
Last year, Anunciacao was one of two youth player to participate in the Senior Brazilian National Team training camp for the 2019 Pan American Games. She has participated in multiple Basketball Without Borders Camps – the camps which are run by the NBA and FIBA boast the top prospects ranging from 16-18 and from over 36 countries. As a 16 year old, Anunciacao was named to an all-start team at a BWB Camp in 2017.
"We are extremely excited to bring Lorena to the University of San Francisco," said fifth year head coach Molly Goodenbour. "Her size, versatility and athleticism make her an extraordinary asset. At 6'4" she brings size to our post position but she also has the ability to face up and play the wing or stretch 4 spot. She comes from a highly successful program in Brazil that has produced 4 WNBA players and won multiple national championships. We anticipate she will make a significant impact on our program and are looking forward to her join his next season."
For the last five seasons, Anunciacao has played for Bradesco Esportes e Educação, one of the most successful development academies in Brazill – winning five state and national championships. This same program has developed WNBA players and Olympic athletes Erika de Souza, Janeth Arcain, Iziani Castro and "Magic Paula".
