Dons From Distance | Anna Dalla Vecchia

During an interesting time with interesting circumstances, USFDons.com is reaching out to student-athletes and having them tell their unique stories. Led by award-winning USF Director of Creative Video Katie Morgan, live remote video interviews with the USF Athletics family will become part of USF's new series called "Dons from Distance."
VICENZA, Italy – With news and information about Covid-19 changing rapidly, about the only thing that was for certain was that Italy was likely the last place you wanted to be. That very reason is why getting home was so difficult for junior Anna Dalla Vecchia, a native of Vicenza, Italy.
USF's all-conference libero and member of the top pair on the Dons' beach team discusses the surprise of the cancelled beach season, and the difficult task of just getting home.
By the time the United States was taking serious measures towards halting the spread of the virus, Italy had already shut down its borders – allowing only four flights a week into the country.
Fortunately for Dalla Vecchia she was able to make it home, thanks in part to USF's Covid-19 Emergency Fund, which was set up for a wide variety of needs on campus, including helping students with travel issues.
From the safety of her home, Dalla Vecchia shared with Katie Morgan how she's adjusting to a different life after her canceled season, and what it means to attend class half a world away.
