MBB | Dons Add Three for 2020-21

SAN FRANCISCO – Head coach Todd Golden is pleased to announce the addition of Samba Kane (Indian Hills Community College/Dakar, Senegal), Maj Dusanic (Dream City Christian/Jesenice, Slovenia), and Julian Rishwain (Boston College/Los Angeles) to the Dons' recruiting class for next season.

"My staff and I are genuinely pleased about these three student-athletes joining our program," said head coach Todd Golden. "All three young men are extremely gifted basketball players and will help fill the gaps left behind by our graduating class of seniors. They also embody many of the characteristics that we value so much in our program here at San Francisco. They are excited to join us as we continue to build our program, and most importantly, they are excited about becoming Dons!"

Samba Kane, 7'0" 220 Center, Indian Hills Community College (University of Illinois)

Samba Kane will join the San Francisco Dons in 2020-21 after spending his sophomore year competing at the junior college level for Indian Hills Community College. Kane, who averaged 16.6 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per 40 minutes, was a key contributor to the Warriors and their 30-3 record this past season.

"We are really excited about adding Samba to our program here on the Hilltop," said Golden.  "He brings an element of size, speed, and athleticism that we simply have not had. As a freshman at Illinois, he was one of the best rim protectors in the country. Now, being older, having more experience, and working with Coach N'Diaye on a daily basis, we believe he has potential to be an impact player in the West Coast Conference."

At Illinois, Kane logged 86 minutes over 18 games. He finished the year with 10 blocks, good for third-best on the Illini, while averaging 4.5 minutes per game. According to Barttorvik.com, his block per minute rating was 13.1, which would have ranked him seventh in the country had he played sufficient minutes to qualify. As a prep, the native of Senegal guided Florida Prep to a 25-6 record and a Regional Final appearance. In his senior campaign he averaged 9.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game while shooting 68% from the field.

Maj Dusanic, 6'7" 230 Forward, Dream City Christian (Slovenia)

Maj Dusanic makes his way to USF after finishing his high school career at Dream City Christian School in Phoenix. Maj, who led the Slovenian U18 National Team in PER (Player Efficiency Rating) in 2019, has won and produced at every stop in his young career.

"We fell in love with Maj after watching him compete for the Slovenian U18 team last summer in Greece," said Coach Golden. "He had 18 points and 12 rebounds in a medal round game against the host team (Greece). His physicality, aggressiveness, and winning mentality all aligned with our program. We are excited to get him on campus this summer."

As a member of the Slovenian U18 team last year, he played in seven games, averaging 25.4 minutes per contest. He shot 63% from the field, averaging 9.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

Julian Rishwain, 6'5'' 185 Guard, Notre Dame High School (Boston College)

Julian Rishwain joins the Dons after spending his freshman year competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference at Boston College. Rishwain, who was a three-star recruit out of Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks, Calif., averaged 4.0 points per game and shot 35% from 3 in ACC play.

"Julian is a young man that we built a strong relationship with during his high school days in Los Angeles," said Golden. "He gained great experience in his time at BC, playing nearly 15 minutes a game as a freshman in the ACC. Julian is an outstanding shot-maker with really good size on the perimeter. He's a high-achiever and will be a great addition to our program."

Rishwain played in 30 games for Boston College last season, making three starts. He finished the year with five games in double figures. In ACC play, he averaged 13.4 minutes per game and shot 34.0% from 3-point range. He was a three-time letter winner for the Knights as a prep at Notre Dame High School. He earned first team all-Mission League honors in his senior campaign, averaging 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and three assists per contest.
