SAN FRANCISCO – Director of Creative Video,
Katie Morgan, is back with another special two-part segment of Dons From Distance. In this edition, she catches up with former men's basketball player Tim Derksen '16.
The segment opens up with Morgan catching up with Derksen and what he has been up to. The two go on to briefly discuss Derksen's career on the Hilltop and his many successful stops playing across Europe.
Derksen talks about how special it has been to have his family make so many trips abroad to see him play, including when he won a Euro League playoff victory over the second-ranked Geneve Lions – a contest in which he was named game MVP.
The conversation moves to how, in three professional seasons, Derksen has continued to play in better and better leagues against increasingly better competition, and how he's raised his game accordingly. They follow up by discussing how Covid-19 disrupted a promising second season playing for Fribourg Olympic in the Swiss Basketball League.
