BOUNCING BACK:
  • It was an up-and-down weekend for the Dons in Reno as they went 1-2 in the 2021 Nugget Classic defeating Idaho before falling to Drake and narrowly coming up short against Nevada in overtime.
  • Ioanna Krimili continued her stellar play as she was selected to the All-Tournament team after scoring a career-high 34 points against the Wolfpack and averaged more than 20 points per game during the three-day tournament.
  • USF received a breakout performance from Kennedy Dickie in Reno as she posted season highs with 19 points and nine rebounds in the loss to Drake and played meaningful crunch time minutes against Nevada in the second half and overtime.
  • Claudia Langarita had two strong performances over the weekend as she scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds, while making a game-clinching and-one layup in the win over Idaho. She followed that up with a setting a career with 12 points against Drake in the Dons' second game of the Classic.
  • Thursday's trip to Pullman will be the first of two trips USF makes to Washington this month, as they'll open up conference play at the end of December against the Gonzaga Bulldogs.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS:
  • Washington State is off to a fast start under fourth year head coach Kamie Ethridge as they're 4-1 with a neutral court victory over Miami (FL) with their most recent game being a loss to No. 2 NC State in the Bahamas.
  • The Cougars' leading scorer is sophomore guard Charlisse Leger-Walker who's averaging 14.4 PPG to start the season, and she shares a spot in the Washington State starting lineup alongside her older sister, fifth year senior Krystal Leger-Walker.
  • Employing a very tall and long roster, the Cougars have made life difficult on opposing offenses early in the season as they're only allowing an average of 55.6 PPG and holding their opponents to 28% shooting percentage from three-point territory.
  • In the WSU front court, junior forward Bella Murekatete is an intimidating presence on the glass. She's averaged just shy of a double-double with 13.0 PPG and 9.3 RPG early in the season and it will be important for USF to attempt to limit her success on the boards.
