SAN MATEO, Calif. – University of San Francisco women's basketball redshirt freshman guard
Ioanna Krimili has once again been named the UCU WCC Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday morning. This is the 11
th time Krimili has earned this honor.
The Dons sharp shooter outdueled the conference's second leading scorer and finished with a game-high 27 points as USF defeated BYU 86-72 on Saturday to clinch third in the West Coast Conference and finish the regular season winning nine of their last 10 games.
Krimili finished the game 6-for-12 from the field and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. She was also an incredible 12-for-12 from the free throw line. The native of Heraklion, Greece also had five rebounds and three assists in the crucial win for the Dons.
For the year, Krimili is averaging 18.7 points per game which ranks 51
st in the nation – fourth among all freshman. She is 3
rd in the nation in made 3-point field goals with 81, sixth in attempts with 176 and third in 3-point field goals per game averaging 3.52 per contest. Krimili is ninth in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage shooting 46.0 percent from beyond the arc. She's also 11 in the nation in free throw percentage, shooting 90.4 from the charity stripe.
The Dons will return to action on Saturday when they play in the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference tournament. The Dons will play the winner of game four in the UCU WCC Bracket. Saturday's game will tip of at 2:00 p.m. from the Orleans Arena and will be televised on BYUtv and streamed on the WCC Network.
