SAN MATEO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference announced its all-conference selections this morning and two members of the University of San Francisco women's basketball team earned honors.
Ioanna Krimili was named to the All-WCC First Team as well as being named the WCC Newcomer of the Year, while senior
Lucie Hoskova took home second team honors.
Krimili becomes the third player in USF history to earn WCC Newcomer of the Year and first since Dominique Carter earned this honor in 2005. Krimili was the conference's leading scorer, amassing 430 points, averaging 18.7 points per game. The 18.7 points per contest was 49
th in the nation – and fourth most by a freshman. The 11-time WCC Freshman of the Week, finished the year with a USF single-season record of 81 3-point field goals which is third most in the NCAA. Her 3.52 3-point field goals per game is sixth most in the nation and her 46.0 3-point field goal percentage ranks ninth in the country.
Krimili finished the regular season with 12 20-point games. In WCC play, she averaged 18.1 points per game in 32.5 minutes of action. At the free throw line, Krimili finished the year 11
th in the nation making 90.4 percent of her attempts, in conference play she was even better, making 51-of-56 attempts.
Hoskova finishes her senior campaign taking home second team honors – her first all-conference accolade. For the year, Hoskova averaged 14.0 points per game and provided the Dons with a solid inside presence to counter the outside threat from Krimili. Hoskova finished the season third in field goal percentage, shooting 52.2 percent from the field and was 12
th in rebounds per game at 5.52.
She had four 20-point games, including a spectacular 32-point performance in the Dons' road win over Saint Mary's.
USF finished the regular season 14-9 overall and 10-7 in the WCC. After starting conference play 1-6 the Dons rattled off a 9-1 run to finish the season third in the WCC.
The Dons will return to action on Saturday when they meet the winner of game four of the WCC Tournament in the quarterfinals. That game is slated for a 2:00 p.m. tip off and will be televised on BYUtv and streamed on the WCC Network.
