MBB | Bouyea Returns for 2021-22

SAN FRANCISCO – A two-time all-conference guard, coming off a brilliant senior campaign, feels there is still work to be done. Guard Jamaree Bouyea is returning to the Hilltop for a fifth season granted by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"USF means a lot to me because they were the only program to give me a scholarship offer out of high school," said Bouyea. "I believe it's only right I come back and finish my career as a Don. I believe in this coaching staff and what we are building, and there is more work to do. I took the time to pursue professional opportunities, but due to the pandemic the right fit did present itself, making this decision to return even easier. I wouldn't be here without my support system supporting me every step of the way and helping me come to the right decision for my future. I can't wait to be back in the Sobrato Center. Go Dons!"

"We are thrilled to announce Jamaree's return to the Hilltop for another season," said head coach Todd Golden. "It's been a joy to watch him grow and prosper both on and off the court over his time as a Don.  He is a fantastic basketball player who now holds his undergraduate degree and will begin working towards his Masters.  He's a great example of what we want our student-athletes to become over their time here.  He's a great player, teammate, and person and we are grateful to have him be a huge part of this program again next season."

The four-time letter winner is coming off a brilliant senior campaign. For the second-consecutive season he led the Dons in minutes played, field goal percentage, 3-point field goal percentage, assists, points and points per game en route to earning First Team All-WCC honors and NABC Second Team All-District honors.

He was one of 17 players in the country to make 170 or more field goals and shoot better than 50.0 percent from the field – Bouyea was one of only two guards nationwide to accomplish the feaet.

With his 432 points scored in an abbreviated 2020-21 season, he has scored 400 or more in back-to-back seasons. In doing so, he joins Charles Minlend (2018-20), Frankie Ferrari (2017-19), Tim Derksen (2014-16), Kruise Pinkins (2013-15), and Cole Dickerson (2012-14) as the only players in the last 10 years to accomplish that feat.

He became the 39th player in USF history to eclipse the 1,000 point plateau. With 1,131 career points he ranks 26th all-time. Bouyea ranks fourth in USF history with 145 steals and seven in games played with 127.

In October 2020, the NCAA Division I Council extended eligibility and granted an additional season of competition for winter sport student-athletes.
