SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco women's triathlon team is back for its third year and ready to compete in a full slate of events for the 2021-22 season.
Under the direction of head coach Gina Kehr, the Dons will complete in eight events, four in the fall during the championship season and four additional events in the spring.
The Dons will make their 2021-22 debut on Saturday, September 4 when they travel to Pleasant Prairie, Wis., to participate in the Central Regional Qualifier. It will be the first of two opportunities in the fall for the Dons to qualify for the USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championship.
The Dons will have a scrimmage on Sep. 18 as they prepare for their next qualifying race, the Regional Qualifier on October 30 in Hurricane, Utah.
The USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championship will be hosted in Tempe, Ariz., once again this season. The event was cancelled last season due to COVID-19. USF took fifth in this event in their inaugural season in 2019.
The spring season will begin on Feb. 19 when the Dons travel to San Diego to compete in the Tritonman Triathlon.
USF will then travel to Florida for back-to-back competitions beginning with the Clermont Draft Legal Challenge in Clermont, Fla., March 5-6. The following weekend, the Dons will head to Sarasota and Bradenton, Fla., for two events Mar. 12-13.
This season promises to be an exciting one for USF's newest program. Kehr boasts a talented and deep lineup that gained a valuable year of experience in the COVID shortened 2021 season.
