SEASON IN REVIEW:
  • In a shortened season that saw USF compete in nine total tournaments last spring, the Dons finished with four team championships overall while also finishing in 29th at the NCAA Championship in Phoenix, Ariz with a 56-over 896.
  • Individually, Tim Widing and Soren Lind were named to the All-WCC First Team for USF. Making his mark with each opportunity, Widing became just the sixth student-athlete in USF history, and only the second male, to earn first-team all-conference honors four times. Notahly, he joined men's soccer's Staale Soebye (1991-94), women's basketball's Dominique Carter (2005-08) and Brittany Lindhe (1995-99), women's golf's Christina Stockton (2007-10), and women's tennis' Andrea Ka (2013-16) as the only USF student-athletes to accomplish this feat. For Lind, these honors were the second of his career after he was named an Honorable Mention in 2019.
  • In the classroom, Lind, Widing, and Alex Chin were selected to the WCC All-Academic First Team while Matthew Anderson was earned Honorable Mention accolades. To qualify, a student-athlete must be of at least sophomore standing, own a minimum 3.20 grade point average and be a starter or an important reserve, having participated in at least 50% of the institution's completed contests. Impressively, it was Chin's third all-academic honor and his second on the First Team, Lind's third time on the First Team, Widing fourth time on the First Team and Anderson's second time on the Honorable Mention list. Overall, the Dons boasted a team GPA of 3.66 with every player achieving a GPA north of 3.5 last fall.
DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • Recently, Lind was named to the 2021-22 WCC Men's Golf Preseason Team. For Lind, the Denmark native was named to the WCC Men's Golf Preseason Team for the first time after finishing his fourth season with the Dons with a 108 for the year, a career-best.
  • Overall, USF will compete in nine tournaments across six states and two countries in 2021-22, including four tournaments hosted by Power Five schools.
  • Joining the Dons this fall, the Dons welcome newcomers Harry Brown (Norwich, England/Christian Brothers HS) and Paramdeep Sodhi (Folsom, Calif./Vista Del Lago HS) to the team.
SCOUTING THE FIELD:
  • Participating Schools-Air Force, Boise State, Colorado, Denver, Grand Canyon, Missouri- Kansas City, Northern Colorado, Prairie View A&M, San Diego, San Francisco, Southern Utah, UT-Arlington, Texas-El Paso, Utah, Utah State, Utah Valley, Wichita State, Wyoming
  • 18 schools in total will compete as well as 14 individual slots (four each from CU and Wyoming, two from Air Force, and one from Denver, Grand Canyon, San Diego and Utah Valley) for an overall 104-man field.
