USF Wraps Up Regular Season Against Santa Clara, Pacific

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - With two more games left in conference play, the University of San Francisco women's volleyball team (14-13, 7-9 WCC) will wrap up their regular season schedule in the next few days as the Dons will travel to Santa Clara (10-18, 6-10 WCC) for their final road match on Friday evening before returning home to War Memorial for senior night against Pacific (13-13, 5-10 WCC) on Tuesday.

DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • In their last time out, the Dons secured a sweep on the road against Gonzaga on 11/12 as Claire Crijns and ShiyaRichardsons led the game in kills, each recording double digits to help secure the victory.  
  • Dangerous on both sides of the ball, Maria Petkova shined against the Bulldogs as she was able to record 10 kills and 10 digs as she proved to be a key piece in their road win. Out serving Gonzaga, the Dons were led by Abby Wadas, who tallied four serving aces in the win last Saturday. Wadas also led the team in digs as she recorded 21 against the Bulldogs.  
  • Heading into their final week of the regular season, Wadas continues to rank amongst the conference's best defensively as she currently sits third in the WCC in total digs (396) and digs per set (3.84). 
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS:
  • The Broncos are coming off of two wins on the road last week as they went to five sets against both Gonzaga and Portland to break a six-game losing streak that occurred in the weeks before. 
  • In their back and forth battle against Portland on Nov. 12, Julia Sangiacomo led the team in kills with 17 adding to her overall total of 415 on the season. Additionally, three other players recorded double digits in kills: Lia Okammor with 11, Layla Truitt with 16 and Sophia Tulino with 12 kills.
  • Dominating defensively against both opponents, Kat Georgiadis recorded 22 digs against the Bulldogs followed by another performance of 23 digs against Portland. She currently leads the Broncos in digs with 418 on the year.  
SCOUTING THE TIGERS:
  • Most recently, Pacific took down Portland in a five-set thriller at home on Thursday, Nov. 10. In the win, senior Biamba Kabengele tallied a match-high 24 kills for the Tigers while teammate Alexa Edwards led the match with 17 digs.
  • Known as one of the top attackers in the WCC, Edwards is currently third in the conference in kills (366), fourth in service aces per set (0.38) and fifth in kills per set (3.52).
  • Sophomore Jenna Heller has been an important piece for the Tigers as she leads the team in assists with 904 on the year. Against Portland, Heller tallied 44 assists as she has recorded double digit assists in every match this season.
