SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference announced on Wednesday morning that USF junior forward Marissa Vasquez and freshman forward Lindsey Chau have been honored as All-WCC selections following their tremendous 2022 seasons on the Hilltop.
Vasquez was picked to the All-WCC First Team for the first time after making the All-WCC Second team last season as she led the Dons with seven goals this year to go along with 14 points as she was the focal point of USF's attack who started the season off with a bang by securing her first career collegiate hat trick on the road against Portland State.
Chau burst on to the scene during her first season at USF as she was picked to the All-WCC Freshman Team and was an All-WCC Honorable Mention choice as well. She was tied for second on the Dons' roster four goals and delivered a team-high four assists for the Dons this season while appearing in all 19 matches and making 16 starts. Lindsey opened her collegiate career with a bang as she scored her first career goal on the road at Portland State and then scored a goal and assisted on Vasquez's goal in the team's win over UC San Diego.
The duo up front for USF scored 11 of the Dons' 27 goals on the season while also posting a combined 81 shots and not missing any game action due to injuries.
USF finished with their first winning record since the 2019 season as the Dons posted an 8-5-6 mark in 2022 and earned a .500 mark in the always tough West Coast Conference. The Dons were strong away from the Hilltop as they posted a 5-2-3 road record navigating a strong schedule facing off against Oregon, Baylor, SMU, Cal and Stanford this season.
Heading into next season being led by both Vasquez and Chau, USF will seek to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament while facing perennially strong competition in the WCC and throughout the country.

COACHES PERSPECTIVE:
USF head women's soccer coach Jim Millinder -- "I'm happy for Marissa and Lindsey both are so deserving.Marissa is the catalyst behind our attack and has a hand in just about everything when we attack. She scored some big goals for us this year and continues to develop her game and get better. Lindsey had an outstanding freshman campaign, she is so dangerous in the one-on-one and was double teamed against most opponents. I think Lindsey is just getting going where her game can go, she has so much potential."
USF women's soccer associate head soccer coach Pinder Nijjar -- "Marissa has continued to develop herself on and off the field. She is meticulous and regimented in her preparation every single day before training and before matches. Her attention to detail with her rest and recovery is also an example that she has set for everyone on the team. Her performances on the field have been a byproduct of her dedication to be the best in every single aspect.
"Lindsey has amazed me with how quickly she adjusted and integrated herself within the team. Her confidence and belief in her ability really shone through as the season went along. I admire her work rate, passion and hunger to win and represent the Dons in the best way possible. We cannot wait to see what more she can achieve whilst on the Hilltop, this is only the beginning."
