USF Wraps Up Non-Conference Schedule Against Northern New Mexico

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- With just one more game left on the schedule before the Christmas break, the USF Dons women's basketball team (10-3, 1-) will wrap up their non-conference schedule against the Northern New Mexico Eagles (3-12) on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center. 

The Dons will wrap up a three-game home stand on Thursday as they opened conference play over the weekend by falling short against LMU and then picking up their first win over Pepperdine on Monday. USF was led against the Waves by redshirt junior guard Ioanna Krimili who scored 33 key points in the victory as she currently leads the West Coast Conference by averaging 18.3 PPG.

DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • USF is seeking their 11th win of the season ahead of the Christmas break with their next game coming on the road against Santa Clara on New Year's Eve, prior to a pivotal trip to the Pacific Northwest to take on Gonzaga and Portland after the New Year. 
  • The Dons' early season success has been spurred by the team's drastic improvement in rebounding this season as they currently lead the WCC in collecting 42.2 rebounds per game this season, as Debora dos Santos and Kennedy Dickie each sit in the conference's top five averaging more than seven rebounds per game.
  • USF's offense has also been firing on all cylinders with tremendous passing throughout the season as they currently lead the WCC is team assists per game at 16.7 with Jessica McDowell-White averaging more than 4.1 assists per game and Amy Baum at 3.8 dimes per contest.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES:
  • The Northern New Mexico Eagles arrive on the Hilltop sporting a 3-12 overall record on the season and will be playing their third Division I school of the season as they've already faced Northern Colorado and New Mexico State this season.
  • Heading into Thursday's game, the Eagles' leading scorer is sophomore guard Briana Marquez who has averaged 13.7 PPG this season to go along with 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. 
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Thursday afternoon's game will be the first time the Dons and Eagles have ever faced off.
