Ioanna Krimili Named WCC Player of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference announced this morning that USF guard Ioanna Krimili was selected as the WCC Player of the Week after her phenomenal week where she averaged 33 points per game and helped lead the Dons to wins over Portland and Pepperdine.

Ioanna joins teammate Claudia Langarita swept this week's conference awards as Langarita was named the WCC Freshman of the Week following her stellar play. The Dons are the first team to sweep the weekly awards during the 2021-22 season, and dating back to last season USF leads the WCC with four weeks of winning both player and freshman of the week.

Krimili got off to a phenomenal start on Thursday as she set a new career-high with 38 points in USF's victory over the Pilots. Ioanna was feeling it throughout the game as she scored 20 points in the first half and made numerous clutch shots in the second half to finish with 38 on 10-for-21 shooting to fo along with five assists, three rebounds and a steal. 

Following that stellar performance, Krimili then took her talents on the road as she dropped 28 on the Waves in Pepperdine, including hitting a dagger three to put her team up for good as they earned the two-game sweep this week. Ioanna scored 28 on 9-of-19 shooting while also grabbing six rebounds, dishing five assists, forcing a steal and shooting a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line.

The Dons will now return to Southern California as they begin the final week of the regular season with a 7:00 p.m. game against the Loyola Marymount Lions. USF will then return home for their final regular season game at how against the Saint Mary's Gaels. Saturday afternoon's game will tip at 2:00 p.m. and we will honor our Dons seniors pregame.
