STANFORD, Calif./CLOVIS, Calif. -- Returning to the track following a week away from competition, the USF Dons outdoor track and field team was competing across two events this weekend as USF fielded participants at both the Payton Jordan Invitational on the Farm, while the majority of the team was in Fresno for the Fresno State Invite hosted by the Bulldogs.
It was a great weekend for the Dons across the events headlined by
Ruby Smee setting a new personal best running in the 5K as she finished with a time of 15:58.02 on Friday evening in the South Bay. Back in Fresno, USF saw a pair of phenomenal performances from
Whitney Hessler and
Julia Morales as the pair finished first and second respectively in the 800M run, while
Rayne Anwar was able to accumulate a pair of top 10 finishes as she raced in the 100 and 200 meter dash on Saturday.

CATCHING UP WITH COACH RILEY:
"The weekend kicked off with a nice little personal best for Ruby in the 5K, but more importantly a much better focused race than her season opener. Today in Fresno, highlights included Whitey and Julia going one and two in their heat of the 800M. Fian had a personal best in the 1,500M and Caleb with a personal best in the 5K. But my hat goes off to
Rayne Anwar for her 100 and 200 double and dipping under the 12 second mark, and breaking a USF school record held by
Asaundra Dalton that's been on the books since 2014."
