SUNNYVALE, Calif. – The University of San Francisco men's and women's cross country teams shined in the final regular season meet, earning top-five finishes in the Bronco Invitational at Baylands Park. The men earned a fourth-place finish with a team score of 123, while the women grabbed second with a team score of 118.
In the men's 8,000 meters,
Jacob Cann and
Ed Buck paced the squad with two top placements as Cann earned a second-place finish with a career-best time of 23:20.0. Buck crossed the finish line shortly after in fourth place, reaching a season-best time of 23:29.6.
On the women's side,
Yasmine Abbes placed fourth, her best finish of the season, and set a new career-best with a time of 19:59.4. Posting her first-ever sub-20 minute 6,000 meters, Abbes surpassed her previous best by over 44 seconds set last season while competing for Florida State.
Grace Copeland and Natalie Hlusi also performed well for the Dons, finishing back-to-back in 18th and 19th, respectively. Copeland earned a season-best time of 20:43.3, while Hlusi, competing in her third meet for the Dons this season, crossed with a career-best 20:43.9.
