Vasquez Scores Sixth Goal of the Season as Dons Fall at Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – The University of San Francisco women's soccer team (6-7-3, 3-2-1) dropped a West Coast Conference matchup against Portland (10-3-2, 4-2), falling 4-1 at Merlo Field.

- The Dons kept the game close in the first half, holding off the Pilots' offensive attack for the first 19 minutes of action. In the 20th minute, however, the Pilots broke through, scoring the game's first goal on a Sophia Mattice long-range shot.
- Falling behind 2-0 in the second half, the Dons cut the deficit to one in the 74th minute when Marissa Vasquez buried the ball in the back of the net for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.
- The Pilots responded with a third goal 19 seconds later and solidified the win with a score in the 83rd minute.
- Vasquez, the lone goal scorer for the Dons, posted her sixth goal of the season and is one shy of tying her career-best set last season.
- Olivia Lukrofka, who assisted on the Vasquez goal, posted a shot while Jackie Koerwitz also attempted a shot.
- Kira Ybarra collected four saves in goal for the Dons, playing all 90 minutes of action.
San Francisco returns to action at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, when it hosts Pepperdine on Senior Night at Negoesco Stadium.
