SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco volleyball team (8-10, 2-4) dropped a straight-sets decision to LMU (12-4, 5-1) Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- The Dons held their own in the beginning stages of the match, taking a two-point lead, 6-4, early in the first set. Aylen Ayub, Lindsay Oldendorf, and Crystal Galaviz propelled the team offensively throughout the stretch, while Hayden Goodman capped off the run with a solo block.
- The Lions, however, used a 6-0 run to take command of the frame, taking a 10-6 advantage and never relinquished the lead. The Lions breezed through the first set, winning 15 of the final 23 points to secure it, 25-14.
- San Francisco jumped out to an early 4-1 advantage in the second set before LMU responded and eventually tied the set at seven.
- Tied at 14 midway through the set, the Dons used a 5-2 run to gain a three-point advantage, 19-16, led by kills from Goodman and Astrid Puig.
- The Lions quickly responded, tying the frame at 20 before using a 7-3 run to win, 227-25.
- The third set began close as both teams split the first eight points. The Lions powered ahead shortly after gaining a six-point advantage, 14-8, and easing to a 25-20 third-set win.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Galaviz led the Dons in kills with seven while posting one service ace.
- Ayub and Goodman combined for 11 kills and no errors, with Goodman recording a stellar .417 hitting percentage.
- Defensively, Goodman led the team with four total blocks, while Puig added two.

San Francisco returns to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, when it hosts defending WCC champions San Diego at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
