SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference officially announced on Monday morning that
Ryan Beasley has been named the conference's Freshman of the Week for men's basketball.
Â
Helping the Dons to a 2-0 record this past week, the freshman from San Ramon averaged 15.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 58.3 percent from beyond-the-arc for San Francisco in wins over Purdue Fort Wayne and Minnesota.
Â
First, the dynamic guard poured in a season and career-high 20 points against then undefeated Purdue Fort Wayne, which included shooting 4-of-8 from three and 8-of-10 from the free throw line.
Â
On Sunday, Beasley followed this performance by finishing with 11 points in USF's win over Minnesota at Chase Center as he knocked down 3-of-4 from distance while playing a season and career-high 31 minutes against the Golden Gophers. Getting it done on the defensive end, he also registered a season and career-high five steals against Minnesota.
Â
Notably, this marks the first Player of the Week honor by a Don this season.
