SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's basketball team and Head Coach Molly Goodenbour have officially announced the signing of guard Angeliki Ziaka of Athens, Greece, as the first signee for the 2024-25 season.
"Angeliki is a versatile guard who can score the basketball, attack the rim, and hit the three," Goodenbour said on her recruit. "We are excited for her to join our program and expect her to make an immediate impact."
Ziaka joins the Dons after competing in her native Greece, most recently playing professionally for Niki Lefkadas and the Greek national team.
A member of the Greek national team since 2019, Ziaka is coming off competing in the FIBA U18 Division B European Championships, helping lead Greece to a third-place finish. Averaging 10.3 points per game throughout the tournament, Ziaka reached double figures in four of the six games, scoring a tournament-high 18 points in the third-place match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Showing her versatility, Ziaka also averaged 6.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game throughout the tournament.
At the club level with Niki Lefkadas, Ziaka has appeared in six games during the 2023-24 season, averaging 6.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game since joining the club on July 1. The guard posted a season-high 12 points in 29 minutes against PAOK A.C. on October 29 and added nine assists against Iraklis B.C.
Before joining Niki Lefkadas, Ziaka also competed for Panathinaikos A.C., helping the team to a Greek Women's Basketball League title during the 2020-21 season. She also helped guide Panathinaikos A.C. to the 2023 Women's Greek Cup title when the team defeated Eleftheria, 66-61, on March 26.
