Kevin Olsen Returns As Assistant Coach/Director of Scouting

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Head coach Chris Gerlufsen and the University of San Francisco men's basketball program announced today that Kevin Olsen has been hired as Assistant Coach/Director of Scouting for the program.

"We are thrilled to welcome Kevin Olsen back to our staff here at the University of San Francisco," said Gerlufsen. "He is a rising star in the coaching profession and has impacted winning at both Florida and USF. Our program is excited to have him back!"

Returning to the Hilltop for his second stint with the Dons, Olsen spent the 2022-23 season as a video coordinator at Florida under former USF head coach Todd Golden.

The Gators scored a pair of top-25 wins and a postseason berth in the NIT in Olsen's lone season at UF. The 2022-23 campaign also included All-SEC honors for Colin Castleton and SEC All-Freshman recognition for Riley Kugel.

Prior to Florida, Olsen spent the previous three seasons on staff here on the Hilltop, where he served first as head student manager for the Dons and later as a graduate manager on Golden's staff. Notably, he was a grad manager for the 2021-22 Dons, who reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998.

He also coached with West Coast Elite Basketball while attending Irvine Valley College. The Villa Park, Calif., native graduated from USF with a degree in sociology in 2021.
