SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Despite having three players reach double figures, the University of San Francisco women's basketball team (2-7) dropped a hard-fought battle to Northern Arizona (6-3), falling 92-76 Saturday afternoon at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Luana Leite put San Francisco on the board right after the opening tip, scoring on a driving layup seven seconds into the game. The Dons continued to grow their advantage the following minute, extending the lead to 7-2 after Debora dos Santos connected on a free-throw attempt at the 8:33 mark.
- Northern Arizona quickly took its first lead, using a 6-0 run to jump ahead, 8-7, at the 6:56 mark of the period. The Dons regained the lead shortly after when Cami Fulcher knocked down a long three-point basket, giving the team a 10-8 advantage.
- San Francisco maintained its advantage throughout the first quarter, pushing the lead to eight, 28-20, its largest lead of the game, with eight seconds left on the clock. The Lumberjacks knocked down two late free throws to cut the deficit to six, 28-22, at the end of the quarter.
- In a back-and-forth second quarter, which saw four lead changes, Jasmine Gayles scored at the 9:29 mark to put the Dons back up eight, 30-22. Northern Arizona regained the lead three minutes later, holding the Dons scoreless and using a 9-0 run to go on top, 31-30.
- Using a scoring run of their own, dos Santos and Mia Vuksic sparked an 8-1 run to give the Dons a 38-32 advantage. The two teams traded baskets throughout the remainder of the first half, as the Dons held a narrow 44-43 lead at the break.
- Northern Arizona regained and never relinquished the lead in the second half, outscoring the Dons 22-16 in the third quarter and 27-16 in the fourth to earn the 16-point victory.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Recording her fourth double-double of the season, dos Santos led the team in scoring as she tallied 17 points and 10 rebounds. Surpassing double-digit rebounds in three of the last four games, dos Santos
- Leite nearly tied her season-high in points, scoring 15 while tallying a team-high five assists. Leite was also stellar from the free-throw line, connecting on seven of her eight attempts.
- Vuksic scored in double figures for the first time this season, as she put up 10 points and was a perfect three-for-three from the charity stripe.

San Francisco returns to action at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16 when it travels back to the Pacific Northwest for a weekend matchup against Portland State at Viking Pavilion.
