DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • Last week, Kennedy Dickie led the way to help the Dons secure the win against Saint Mary's, as she scored 22 points while shooting 5-of-8 from the field. This game marked the sixth in a row where she has recorded double digits, as she currently is averaging 9.8 points per game this season as the team's third leading scorer.
  • Although the Dons fell short against Pacific on Saturday, Ioanna Krimili recorded 22 points on 9-for-20 shooting from the field. She's continued her torrid scoring pace throughout conference play while shooting an efficient 47% from the field and 43% from three-point range.
  • As a team, USF has been averaging 70.3 points per game, placing them fourth in the conference, just below Portland. The Dons offense has also been highly successful at setting up good looks for their teammates as they rank second in assists per game at 15.2 this season.
SCOUTING THE TOREROS:
  • The Toreros have won their last five games and hold a record of 9-5 in season, placing them third overall in the conference. The last game they lost was against the Dons in January as they fell short 69-56 on their home court, as four USF players scored in double figures as Krimili and Jasmine Gayles led the way for the Dons.
  • In their last matchup, USD beat Pepperdine as senior Ayanna Khalfani had a career night scoring a high of 23 points to secure the team's victory. Following that performance, she was named WCC Co-Player of the Week, and in her last four games, she has averaged 19.3 points per game.
  • Another dangerous asset for San Diego is senior Kasey Neubert. She currently sits in fifth place in the WCC for rebounds per game with 7.3, just below Kennedy Dickie on the leader board. She recently recorded her season high of 14 points against LMU last Thursday.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS:
  • BYU is currently ranked fourth in conference, just behind San Diego with a record of 8-6 in WCC play. In their last two outings, they went into overtime against Pepperdine last Thursday but ultimately lost before besting LMU on Saturday which marked their first win after a three game losing streak.
  • Leading the conference in rebounds per game, Lauren Gustin is averaging 16.4 boards per game as she remains a force on the glass. Against LMU, she recorded 21 points and 16 rebounds becoming the first player across all divisions of men's and women's NCAA basketball to have a total number of rebounds and points both be over 400 in one season.
  • Another sharp shooter on their roster is junior guard Kaylee Smiler, who leads the team in three point percentage as she averages 47.9% overall. She's also fourth on her team averaging 7.7 PPG this season.
