Jocelyn Garcia Named New Assistant Volleyball Coach

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Head coach Diogo Silva and the University of San Francisco volleyball program officially announced Jocelyn Garcia as the program's new assistant coach on Friday afternoon.

"After an intense and rigorous selection process, we are thrilled to welcome Jocelyn Garcia," said Silva. "Her passion, experience, and dedication have made her the perfect fit for our team. We are excited to work together towards achieving our goals on and off the court and we wish her much success and perseverance throughout this journey. We are confident that with her skills and guidance, our team will soar to new heights. Welcome aboard Jocelyn!"

Originally from Denver, Colo., Garcia comes to the Hilltop after serving as an assistant coach at Butler for one year under Sharon Clark. Primarily working on the team's defense during her time in Indianapolis, Garcia guided Jaymeson Kinley to her second straight Big East Libero of the Year award this past season.

Prior to her experience at Butler, Garcia spent three seasons as head coach at Division II University of Arkansas at Monticello.

As an athlete herself, Garcia was a libero/defensive specialist for four years at Concordia University in Nebraska, where she totaled 1,594 career digs. While in college, she helped her team to a national ranking as well as the program's first-ever conference final appearance and first-ever National tournament appearance. Overall, her accomplishments at Concordia included:
  • 2016 Honorable Mention All-GPAC
  • Four-Time 2016 GPAC Defensive Player of the Week
  • 2015 NAIA AVCA West Central Region Libero of the Year
  • Omaha World-Herald NAIA All-Nebraska First Team
  • 2015 NAIA Honorable Mention All-America
