SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The University of San Francisco women's basketball program and head coach Molly Goodenbour officially announced the commitment of 6'6" forward Seynabou Thiam (pronounced: SAY-nuh-boo chahm) from Dakar, Senegal on Thursday morning.
Thiam joins the Dons' program after competing for Tarleton State most recently during the 2021-22 season, where she played in 27 games and made 25 starts where she averaged 6.3 PPG, 6.2 rebounds per game and 2.3 blocks for the Texans.
"We are excited to welcome Seynabou to the Hilltop," Goodenbour said. "At 6'6" with an enormous wing span, her combination of size and athleticism will certainly change our ability to defend at the rim. Her intelligence, positive energy and work ethic will be a great fit for our program and we can't wait for her to get here. She will be entertaining to watch and will make an immediate impact for us on the court."
Nicknamed Z by her teammates and coaches, Thiam began her collegiate career competing for both Arkansas State and at McLennan Community College before joining the Texans' program. The Senegal native ranked 20th nationally in blocked shots during her one season at Tarleton State while also ranking in the top 10 in the WAC in rebounds per game.
