USF Adds Dynamic Forward Jonathan Mogbo

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Head coach Chris Gerlufsen and the University of San Francisco men's basketball program officially announced the addition of forward Jonathan Mogbo on Tuesday afternoon.

"My staff and I are thrilled to announce the signing of Jonathan Mogbo to our basketball family here at the University of San Francisco," said Gerlufsen. "Jonathan is an exciting player who has the ability to change the game on both ends of the floor with his athleticism and intelligence. We can't wait to get Jonathan on campus and get to work. He will be a great addition to our program!"

Coming to the Hilltop after one season at Missouri State, the 6'8" forward is known for his defensive prowess and his impact on both ends of the floor. Starting in 28 of his 30 games last season, Mogbo averaged 8.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.1 blocks in 24.5 minutes per game for the Bears in 2022-23.

Elite at protecting the rim, Jonathan also played two years at the junior college level. He spent one year at Independence CC in 2020-21 where he led the Pirates to a 14-9 record during an abbreviated season. Mogbo spent the 2021-22 season at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. While in Oklahoma, he earned first-team NJCAA All-Region honors while scoring in double figures 26 times and averaging 14.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.

Originally hailing from Florida, he was also a 7A District and Regional champion at Forest Hill High School in West Palm Beach under head coach Tony Watson.

Mogbo joins Ryan Beasley, Junjie "Barry" Wang, and Malik Thomas as the fourth member of USF's 2023 signing class.
