SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Head coach
Diogo Silva and the University of San Francisco women's volleyball program officially announced their schedule for the upcoming 2023 season on Thursday afternoon.
"Our program is under construction and we are already evolving and improving before the season even starts," said Silva. "Our staff and players are working hard to welcome new athletes and at the same time form the unity we want on and off the court. We have to dream big and focus on the daily process… everyone is aware that is the only way we will achieve our goals. It will be an excellent season and I am very happy and proud of the group of people that I am working with. Go Dons!"
USF will welcome eight new student-athletes to this Hilltop this fall as the Dons prepare for another strong season in the WCC:
Kennedy Muckelroy (RS/Alabama),
Ezgi Ozkan (S/Seattle U),
Analiese Gagliano (L/San Diego, Calif.),
Giulia Cefalu (S/St. Francis Brooklyn),
Crystal Galavis (OH/Georgia State),
Karolina Nova (OH/Long Island),
Hayden Goodman (MB/Santa Clara) and
Astrid Puig (OH/RS/Lleida, Spain).
Additionally, USF will return will ten student-athletes from their 2022 team, including 2022 WCC Honorable Mention and All-Freshman honoree
Abby Wadas, who led the Dons while finishing third in the conference with 414 total digs last season. Notably,
Maria Petkova, who finished second on the team with 317.0 total points and 270 total kills, and
Aylen Ayub, who led USF with 656 total assists, will also be returning to the Hilltop.
Entering his third year as head coach, Silva added Jocelyn Garcia as an assistant coach this offseason. Overall, Garcia brings a wealth of knowledge to campus as she previously served as head coach at Division II University of Arkansas at Monticello for three years before spending time at Butler under Sharon Clark.
In total, USF is set to compete in 28 total matches – 16 conference matches, 12 non-conference matches, 17 road matches, 11 home matches.
