SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Competing in their backyard to begin the new year, the University of San Francisco men's golf team picked up where they left off last spring as the Dons finished second overall as a team at the USF/Howard Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday at TPC Harding Park.

TOURNAMENT RESULTS:
- Playing 36 holes on Monday, San Francisco got off to a strong start on a familiar course as Jakob Melin finished his first two rounds (69, 67) in third place at 8-under.  Just two strokes behind, Ben Partridge also was in the top five after day one as he sat at 6-unde heading into Tuesday.
- Additionally, Renato Naula cracked the top 20 on Monday as he fired rounds of 69 and 72 to sit at 3-under following 36 holes. At the end of the first two rounds, San Francisco was six strokes back of the lead (23-under) as a team as they sat at 17-under.
- Rolling into the day two, the green and gold remained steady as they fired a 281 as a team on Tuesday, one stroke better than their 282 in round two on Monday.
- Overall, Melin went on to climb one spot on the leaderboard by shooting a 69 in his final round to finish at 11-under-205 (69, 70, 69). Notably, this finish marked the highest of his collegiate career so far after he finished tied for eighth twice as a freshman in 2022-23.
- Alongside Melin, Partridge went on to tie for third as he also fired a 69 in round three to finish at 9-under-207 (68, 70, 69). Close by, Naula also tied for 21st as he finished 3-under-213 (69, 72, 72).
- Playing as an individual, Harry Brown impressed by tying for 28th overall as the senior finished even-par-216 (71, 73, 72). Playing in his first collegiate golf tournament, Svante Palmgren tied with Brown at even-par (72, 73, 71).
- Rounding out the lineup for San Francisco, Jackson Rothwell tied for 42nd at 4-over-220 (71, 76, 73).
- With the full team competing in this tournament, Brian Park  tied for 57th at 9-over-225 (77, 77, 71) while Sonoma State transfer Aidan Oliver tied for 59th at 10-over-226 (76, 76, 74) in his first Division I appearance.

San Francisco will only have a few days off as the Dons will return to the course next Monday and Tuesday at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, New Mex.
