Ewing Named WCC Freshman of the Week

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Following a dominant performance, propelling the University of San Francisco volleyball team to two conference wins on the Hilltop, Delaney Ewing has been named Credit Union One WCC Freshman of the Week, announced by the league Monday afternoon.

Ewing shined as she helped guide San Francisco to straight-set victories over Saint Mary's and LMU last week at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center. In two contests from the middle blocker position, Ewing totaled 15 kills, a team-best .462 hitting percentage, and 19.5 points while adding one assist.

In the win over Saint Mary's on Thursday, Oct. 3, she posted a .563 hitting percentage with nine kills on 16 attempts. Ewing followed with six kills and hit .300 in the upset triumph over LMU on Saturday, Oct. 5. Defensively, she totaled eight blocks across the two contests, matching a season-best five against the Lions.

Ewing continues to lead all freshmen while ranking third in the WCC in hitting percentage at .385 and is tied for 10th in total blocks with 37.

For San Francisco, this award marks the first Player of the Week honor this fall.
