SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference announced on Monday morning that
Jonathan Mogbo has been named the WCC Player of the Week for men's basketball.
Â
For Mogbo, this marks the third time the forward has earned the honor this season, the most of any player in the conference.
Â
Helping the Dons move into a tie for second in the conference standings with two more wins, Mogbo dominated for the green and gold yet again as the forward logged double doubles in both of San Francisco's this past week. Beginning on Thursday, Feb. 1, Mogbo finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in USF's 95-79 win over San Diego.Â
Â
Less than two days later, the Missouri State transfer was a beast on the block as he tallied 15-points, 14 rebounds (5 of which were offensive), 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks in USF's 79-73 win over Pacific.Â
Â
Overall, the dynamic playmaker made 15 of his 20 field goals during the week while pulling down 24 boards and dishing out 8 assists. As of Monday, Feb. 5, Mogbo currently leads Division I with a 68.56 field goal percentage while also being tied for sixth with 13 double doubles on the year.
Â
Recently, he was also named to the mid-season watch list for the Lou Henson Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top mid-major player. Notably, this marks the fifth weekly WCC honor by a Don this season and the fourth Player of the Week honor (Mogbo 3x,
Malik Thomas).
