KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The NABC officially released the 2023-24 NABC Division I All-District Teams and District Coaches of the Year on Tuesday morning. The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division I.
For San Francisco, forward
Jonathan Mogbo was named to the District 9 First Team while guard
Marcus Williams was named to the District 9 Second Team.
Evolving into one of the most dominant big men in the country, Mogbo made his mark in year one on the Hilltop. Already being named WCC Newcomer of the Year in addition to earning All-WCC First team honors, Mogbo played and started in all 31 games for San Francisco this season while averaging 28.7 minutes per game. Overall, the dynamic forward led the Dons in scoring (14.7 ppg), rebounding (10.3) and steals (1.7 spg). Notably, he finished in the top 20 in Division I in total rebounds (318/7th), field goal percentage (64.33, 8th), double doubles (16, 10th), rebounding (10.3, 13th) and offensive rebounds (3.55/19th). Within the WCC, the Missouri State transfer finished first in rebounding, field goal percentage and steals while also finishing sixth in scoring and eighteenth in minutes. Notably, Mogbo tallied double figures in 26 of USF's 31 games and had ten or more rebounds in 18 of USF's 31 games. For these efforts, he was named WCC Player of the Week three times this season (Jan. 8, Jan. 15 + Feb. 5). Additionally, he was also named to the Lou Henson Award Mid-Season Watch List on Jan. 10.
For Williams, the guard was key in facilitating the offense for San Francisco all year. Earning All-WCC First Team honors alongside Mogbo, the second-year Don played and started in all 31 games for the Dons while averaging 30.5 minutes per game, he finished first on the team in assists per game (3.8 apg) while also finishing second in scoring (13.9 ppg). Additionally, Williams also averaged 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. Notably, Williams reached double figures in 24 of USF's 31 games including a season-high 28 points against New Orleans on Dec. 11, 2023. Most impressively, he recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 assists in a win against San Diego on Feb. 1, 2024. Within the WCC, Williams ranked fifth in assists, sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.7) and field goal percentage (45.3), eleventh in scoring, tied for twelfth in three-point field goals per game (1.8) and fourteenth in minutes.
