SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's basketball program and Head Coach Molly Goodenbour have officially announced Jasmine Gayles as an assistant coach.
"We are excited to be able to keep Jasmine in the program in an assistant coaching/mentorship role," Goodenbour said. "Her relationship and communication, paired with her years of playing experience, will be a huge asset to our team."
Gayles, a former standout of the women's basketball program for the last three seasons, returns to the Hilltop for her first coaching opportunity. As a player, Gayles averaged 12.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game during her three seasons with the Dons. In her breakout season in 2023-24, she led the team and ranked third in the West Coast Conference in scoring, averaging a career-best 16.8 points per game.
Stepping into a more extensive role following a 2022-23 season where she came off the bench, Gayles started all 30 games for the Dons this past season, scoring 20 or more points nine times, including making history with a 40-point performance at Pacific on January 13. She also earned All-WCC First Team honors and was named WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention following the 2023-24 campaign.
As an assistant, Gayles is anticipated to be utilized in all program phases, from recruiting, marketing, and coaching duties during practices.
