SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The University of San Francisco (USF) Athletics Department announced today that Barry Tompkins and Dan Belluomini will serve as USF's new television broadcast team for men's basketball.
Tompkins will serve as the play-by-play voice while Belluomini will serve as the color analyst. The duo will broadcast all home USF men's basketball games, which will air live on ESPN+ at game time.
"The names Barry Tompkins and Dan Belloumini are woven into the very fabric of Bay Area basketball," said Frank Allocco, Executive Sr. Associate Athletics Director, External Relations. "For more than four decades, they've enriched the college basketball experience with their voices, insight, and deep love for the game. We are honored to welcome these two Richmond District legends – lifelong friends who have shared this incredible journey together – back to the Hilltop. Barry's unmistakable call and Coach Belloumini's basketball wisdom are sure to make our broadcasts something special for our fans."
Tompkins and Belluomini, who were both born and raised in San Francisco, grew up in the Richmond district and have been friends for more than 70 years, dating back to their days playing basketball at Fulton Playground. Tompkins went on to attend Washington High School, while Belloumini attended St. Ignatius High School.
Since 1980, Tompkins and Bellumoni have broadcast basketball games together, beginning with an early West Coast Conference (WCC) package. In fact, the duo has broadcast WCC games every year since.
Tompkins, a 51-year network television veteran, is a four-time Emmy Award winner and a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame (class of 2017) for his work as a boxing commentator.
