SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Head coach
Chris Gerlufsen and the University of San Francisco men's basketball program announced today the signing of guard Mason Magee (Chandler, Ariz.).
"We are extremely excited to welcome Mason Magee to the Hilltop," said Gerlufsen. "He has all of the qualities that we look for in perimeter players. Mason has been well-coached at Basha HS by Coach Grothaus, has a high skill level, and is ultra-competitive. Mason is a winner, and our staff is looking forward to his arrival in the summer of 2026."
Magee, who attends Basha High School in Chandler, Ariz., is a 6'0" dynamic guard who also competes for the Compton Magic and Vegas Elite. He is a three-star prospect according to 247Sports and is ranked No. 14 in the state of Arizona.
Magee quickly developed during his time at Basha, becoming a starter his freshman year and averaging 13.8 points and 3.2 assists per game while leading his team to a 25-5 record. That season, he guided Basha to a deep playoff run and earned MVP honors at the McClintock Holiday Shootout Tournament. During his sophomore season, Magee grew his averages to 19 points and four assists per game, propelling Basha to Arizona's Open Division state semifinals. After each of his first two seasons, Magee earned a spot on The Arizona Republic's All-Arizona team. As a junior in 2024-25, Magee averaged 20 points and five assists before a late-season injury cut short his playoff run.
Magee chose San Francisco over Arizona State, California, Fresno State, Mississippi State, and Stanford.
