PALM DESERT, Calif. - The University of San Francisco men's basketball team (5-2) could not fend off a second half surge from Colorado (6-0) on Thanksgiving afternoon as the Buffaloes defeated the Dons, 79-69, at Acrisure Arena.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- After falling behind 20-15, San Francisco went on an 8-0 run with 10:00 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Wang to take a 23-20 lead. The Dons then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 37-35 advantage. USF relied on its three-point shooting in the opening period, knocking down six shots from distance to account for 18 of its 37 points at the break.
- Moving into the second half, Colorado (CU) proceeded to take a 71-61 lead before San Francisco went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Veniamin Abosi's triple to shrink the deficit to 71-66 with 3:05 to go in the contest. CU responded and outscored the Dons the rest of the way, securing the win by a final score of 79-69. San Francisco got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 15 of its 32 total points in the second half.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Junjie Wang (4-12 FG) and Ryan Beasley (5-11 FG) led the Dons with 13 points apiece. Beasley has now finished in double figures for four straight games, while Wang's performance marked his first double-figure performance this season.
- Guillermo Diaz Graham finished with 10 points for the second straight game, tying his season-high. His four field goals against Colorado marked a new season-high.
- San Francisco got five rebounds from both David Fuchs and Mookie Cook.
- Fuchs tied his career-high with four assists against the Buffaloes.
