SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -Â The University of San Francisco (USF) men's basketball team (7-5) got back on track on Wednesday night as the Dons raced past Loyola Chicago (3-9), 85-71, in the nightcap of the USF Legacy at Chase Center.Â
The Dons had three players score in double figures, led by Tyrone Riley IV, who finished with season-highs in points (22) and rebounds (nine). David Fuchs added a career-high 20 points, while also adding seven rebounds and four assists from the bench.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Loyola Chicago jumped out to an early 8-6 lead out of the gates, but San Francisco responded with a 7-0 run with 16:20 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Legend Smiley, to take a 15-6 advantage. The Dons then continued to pour it on and entered halftime with a 50-36 advantage. USF relied on its three-point shooting in the opening frame, knocking down nine shots from distance to account for 27 of its 50 points.
- Coming out of the break, San Francisco scored the first eight points of the second half, increasing its advantage to 22 points. The Dons kept going and did not let up down the stretch, growing their lead to as many as 19 points, 75-56, with 8:13 remaining in regulation. USF did not encounter much resistance down the stretch, cruising to an 85-71 victory on Wednesday.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- San Francisco shot well from three-point range, knocking down 13 of 27 long range attempts (48.1 percent).
- USF tallied 18 total assists in the game while turning the ball over just four times.
- The Dons had a great day defensively, holding Loyola Chicago to 17 percent from three-point land (3-18 3PT).
- The San Francisco bench came alive by adding 38 points to its scoring output.
- Riley IV (22 points), Fuchs (20 points), and Masic (11 points) all finished in double figures for the Dons.
- Masic and Beasley both finished with five assists, which marked a new season-high for Beasley.
- Riley IV pulled down a game-high nine rebounds, marking the sixth time the sophomore has pulled down five or more rebounds this season.

San Francisco is set to wrap up nonconference action this Sunday, Dec. 21, when the Dons welcome Morgan State to the Hilltop.
