DONS AT A GLANCE:
- San Francisco looks for a fresh start in December after falling in back-to-back contests at the Acrisure Series in Palm Desert last week, most recently losing to Nevada in an 81-65 contest on Friday, Dec. David Fuchs was a highlight for the Dons off the bench, finishing one rebound shy of a double-double with 16 points and nine boards, including eight made free throws.
- Fuchs has been a bright spot for the green and gold off the bench, averaging 10.4 points per game this season, one of four Dons averaging double-digit scoring. The Rhode Island junior transfer is on pace to be the first San Francisco reserve to average at least 10.0 points per game since Khalil Shabazz's first season with the Dons in 2019-20 (10.5 PPG, 34 GP, 2 GS).
- On Monday, the NCAA released its first NET Rankings of the 2025-26 season, with USF tied with Seattle U as the sixth-highest ranked West Coast Conference (WCC) team at 117th, behind Gonzaga (5th), Saint Mary's (27th), Santa Clara (36th), Pacific (83rd), Seattle U (117th).
- Striping it from beyond the arc, USF leads the WCC in three-pointers made per game, hitting 10.0 shots from distance through the first eight games of the season. USF also ranks third in the conference in three-point percentage, shooting 39.4 percent from downtown (Seattle U - 40.9/first; Saint Mary's - 40.4/second).
- Following Wednesday night's matchup against North Alabama, the Dons will not hit the hardwood at War Memorial until Dec. 21 against Morgan State in the final game of non-conference action for the green and gold.
SCOUTING THE LIONS:
- Following a 2025 ASUN regular season co-championship and NIT bid last season, North Alabama has begun its 2025-26 season with a 4-4 record, bringing a two-game win streak into War Memorial on Wednesday night, most recently winning at Jacksonville State, 73-66 on Monday, Dec. 1. Three Lions scored in double figures in the victory over the Gamecocks, led by Donte Bacchus' tying his season-high with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting.
- Redshirt junior Corneilous Williams had led the way for UNA this season, leading the Lions in points per game (13.8), rebounds per game (10.8), field goal percentage (65.0), free throw percentage (80.0), and blocks per game (1.4).
- Right behind Williams on the stat sheet is sophomore guard Kevin de Kovachich, who is averaging 13.4 points per game and leading the Lions in assists per game (2.4), steals per game (1.4), and three-point percentage (37.1).
- In his eighth season as head coach at North Alabama, Tony Pujol looks to guide the Lions to his second consecutive and third overall postseason appearance, after leading UNA to its first-ever NIT bid last season. The Lions ultimately fell to Bradley, 71-62, in a first round matchup on Mar. 19, 2025.
- Notably, the Lions and Dons share multiple opponents on their 2025-26 schedules, with the Lions having faced both Mississippi State (Nov. 5 - L, 86-62) and Northwestern State (Nov. 11 - W, 87-83 OT), as well as an upcoming battle against LMU on Dec. 19. USF is set to face Mississippi State on Sunday, Dec. 7 in Tupelo, while the green and gold also recently took care of business against Northwestern State on Nov. 18 (W, 84-64).
