SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Highlighted by Freja Werth's milestone, reaching 1,000 career points, the University of San Francisco women's basketball team (12-13, 9-7 WCC) dominated Pacific (12-15, 8-9 WCC) in an 80-69 victory Saturday afternoon at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
 
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

• Pacific began the scoring early as Daria Nestorov scored four straight points to put the Tigers up 4-0 less than a minute in.
• San Francisco battled back, answering with an 8-2 scoring run to take an 8-6 advantage at the 7:00 minute mark of the first quarter. Three players scored during the run, with Werth recording four of the Dons' eight points.
• Leading by one, 17-16, following a Nyah Lowery three-pointer, the Dons totaled six of the final seven points to lead by six, 23-17, at the end of the quarter. Werth carried the load in the back half of the opening period, scoring five points, while Cami Fulcher added a free throw to cap off the Dons' scoring.
• Starting fast at the start of the second quarter, San Francisco's lead quickly ballooned to 14, 33-19, following a 10-2 scoring run. Success from the three-point line favored the Dons during the run as Emma Trawally Porta and Mia Vukšic recorded back-to-back threes to guide the offense.
• Battling back, Pacific trimmed its deficit to single digits at the end of the first half, with Nestorov posting the final field goal, a pullup jumper in the paint to get within eight, 41-33, at the halftime break.
• San Francisco kept the pressure on in the third quarter, pushing its lead back to 14, 51-37, near the six-minute mark. Aya Kéita broke out at the beginning of the quarter, scoring five straight points, while Fulcher and Werth added scoring support.
• Three-pointers continued to fall late in the period, as Trawally Porta and Fulcher knocked down two in consecutive possessions for a 63-49 lead with 58 seconds left on the clock.
• Elizabeth Elliott connected on a layup with 39 seconds left to bring Pacific to within 12, 63-51, at the end of the quarter.
• The Dons held onto their double-digit advantage throughout the final quarter, pushing the lead to as high as 17, 76-59 at 5:04, following a fast break layup by Elle Papahronis. Papahronis capped off a dominant 8-0 run for the green and gold as Kéita and Luana Leite added tallies to grow the margin.
• San Francisco recorded four of the final six points, with Leite posting two free throws and a Fulcher layup for an 80-67 win.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

• Werth led San Francisco in scoring, posting 18 points while surpassing 1,000 career points. Werth shot an efficient 55.6 percent (five-for-nine) from the field and knocked down two of her three-point attempts.
• Along with Werth, four other players scored in double figures, including Fulcher (14 points), Kéita (14 points), Trawally Porta (12 points), and Leite (12 points).
• Kéita shined in 25 minutes of action, matching her career-high in points with 14 while shooting a perfect three-for-three from the three-point line.
• As a team, the Dons shot 45.8 percent from the three-point line, knocking down 11 of their 24 attempts. The green and gold's 11 made three-point field goals matched a season high.
