DONS AT A GLANCE:
- San Francisco enters the final road trip tied for fourth place in the WCC standings following a convincing 80-67 win over Pacific last Saturday on the Hilltop. In the victory against the Tigers, Freja Werth dropped 18 points while reaching the 1,000-career-point milestone. She shot an efficient 55.6 percent from the field, sinking two of her three attempts from beyond the arc.
- In conference play, Werth continues to be a top long-distance threat, averaging 2.2 three-pointers per game, tied for third overall.
- Four other Dons scored in double figures, with Cami Fulcher and Aya Kéita each contributing 14 points, while Emma Trawally Porta and Luana Leite added 12.
- Leite nearly posted a double-double as she dished out seven assists, leading the Dons, as a team recorded a season-high 23 in the win over the Tigers. Her 4.6 assists per game ranks third in the WCC, and her 2.5 assist/turnover ratio ranks second in the league and 23rd in the nation.
- The Dons had a strong shooting performance against the Tigers, matching their season-high with 11 three-pointers on 45.8 percent shooting. The green and gold rank second in the conference in three-point field goals made, averaging 7.1 per game.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS:
- Washington State continues to be one of the top offenses in the WCC, ranking third in scoring average at 68.0 points per game.
- The Cougars split their last two contests, defeating LMU 63-51 before falling to Portland 84-79 on the road. Dayana Mendes was a standout in their win over the Lions, posting her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
- Defensively, the Cougars are a force at the rim, ranking third in the nation and first in the WCC with 6.4 blocks per game. Tara Wallack leads the Cougars with 56 total blocks, averaging 2.0 per contest.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:
- Gonzaga is riding a 13-game streak following a 69-57 win over LMU last Saturday at home.
- The Bulldogs hold the second-highest-scoring offense in the WCC, averaging 69.3 points per game.
- The Bulldogs grabbed 51 rebounds in their victory against the Lions, three shy of matching their season-high 54 against Washington State on February 8. With an average of 40.0 rebounds per game, the program ranks first in the WCC.
- Yvonne Ejim has scored in double figures in every game this season, with her most recent performance being 16 points against the Lions. She sits at the top of the conference and 11th in the nation for scoring, averaging 21.6 points per game.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Thursday's matchup against Washington State marks the 12th meeting since 1981, with the Cougars winning 10 of the last matchups. The Cougars won the most recent matchup on January 16, defeating the Dons 74-58.
- San Francisco and Gonzaga first met in the 1987-88 season with Gonzaga holding the series advantage, winning 55 of the 82 games played. The Dons snapped Gonzaga's 17-game winning streak against them on December 19, 2024, with a convincing 73-58 win at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
