SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's basketball team (13-8, 6-4) dropped a hard-fought 72-66 West Coast Conference overtime decision to Gonzaga (15-7, 7-2) Thursday evening at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- In a tight opening quarter, Gonzaga finished on a 7-0 scoring and held a 20-13 advantage following the first 10 minutes of the game.
- San Francisco continued to fall behind as Gonzaga opened a 12-point lead, 25-13, at the 6:39 mark of the second quarter.
- The Dons, however, concluded the first half on an 11-1 run, with Michelle Ugwah registering four points, and trailed 26-24 at the end of the period.
- Ballooning their advantage back to double digits to start the third quarter, the Bulldogs gained a 38-26 lead at 5:06. The Dons battled back in the final minutes of the quarter, trimming the deficit to five, 45-40, while scoring seven of the final 10 points.
- San Francisco chipped away in the fourth quarter and regained the lead with 13 seconds left, 62-60, following a Meghan McIntyre fast-break layup. Gonzaga responded shortly after, tying the game at 62 to force overtime.
- In the five extra minutes, Gonzaga outscored San Francisco 12-4 to earn the 74-66 victory.Â
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- In a well-balanced offensive effort, San Francisco had five players score in double figures, led by Candy Edokpaigbe with 13 points. Aina Cargol and Ugwah each totaled 11 points, while Mara Neira and McIntyre posted 10 points apiece.
- Ugwah was also a force on the glass, matching her season-high of eight rebounds, including four offensive boards.
- As a team defensively, San Francisco forced Gonzaga, one of the best three-point shooting teams in the nation, to just 26.9 percent from distance.
