SAN FRANCISCO, Calif -- With momentum from a tournament victory and a top-four finish to open the fall season, the University of San Francisco men's golf team returns to action as the Dons travel to Stockton, Calif., for the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, taking place Monday, Oct. 12 through Wednesday, Oct. 14, at The Reserve at Spanos Park.
San Francisco enters its third tournament of the fall looking to carry its early-season success into the final two events of the fall schedule. The Dons have finished among the top four in each of their first two tournaments, highlighted by a team title at the Ram Masters Invitational and a fourth-place finish at the CDA National Reserve Invitational.
"It's been a solid start to the season and it all comes from the hard work these guys have put in," said Head Coach Jalen Griffin. "Getting a win in Colorado State's event and a top 5 at the CDA National Reserve builds momentum and everyone contributed in their own way."
The Dons opened the season by claiming the team title at the Ram Masters Invitational, finishing first in a 16-team field at nine-over-par 849. Nils Svanberg led the way with his first collegiate individual title, finishing at eight-under-par 202, highlighted by a six-under-par 64 in the final round.
San Francisco followed that performance with another top-five showing at the CDA National Reserve Invitational, placing fourth out of 16 teams at eight-over-par. William Svanström finished tied for second overall at seven-under-par 209, while Theo Anderson added a top-15 finish, tying for 15th at two-over-par 218.
With the Dons continuing to find success across their lineup, Griffin emphasized the importance of maintaining that consistency and staying focused on the challenges ahead.
"Now we're looking towards what's in front of us with our final two fall events to accomplish what we know we can do," Griffin said. "We'll have to be mentally tough, trust our process, execute shots, and we're looking forward to competing these next three days."
Svanström, Svanberg and Anderson return to the lineup in Stockton alongside Nathan Pouchoulon and Alexander Thu, while Niklas Rehmann will compete as an individual.
