San Francisco Adds Forward Gustav Knudsen

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Head coach Chris Gerlufsen and the University of San Francisco (USF) men's basketball program announced today the signing of forward Gustav Knudsen (Virum, Denmark).
"Our staff is thrilled to welcome Gustav to the University of San Francisco," said Gerlufsen.
"He is a versatile forward with a great feel for the game, high character, and a competitive streak that fits who we are. He brings valuable experience from his time with Manresa in the ACB and the Danish national program. We could not be more excited to add him to our program and continue his development as he transitions into college basketball."
Knudsen comes to the Hilltop as one of the top young forwards from Denmark, where he has represented the Danish national team while also playing professionally in Spain, Denmark, and Belgium.
He began his career in the Virum youth system in his hometown of Virum, Denmark, and quickly became one of the country's most promising junior players. At age 16, he moved to Spain and suited up for Zaragoza's academy and reserve teams. He made his senior debut in Spain's Liga Endesa during the 2020-21 season.
In 2022, Knudsen returned to his home country as he competed in the Basketligaen, the highest professional basketball league in Denmark, in addition to the Basketball Champions League and the FIBA Europe Cup. He was the winner of the Basketligaen Young Player of the Year award in 2022-23 with the Bakken Bears, who also won the Danish championship and captured the Danish Cup that year. One season later, the Bears once again won the Danish Championship as he was named Basketligaen Finals MVP in 2023-24. The team also won the European North Basketball League (ENBL) that same year.
More recently, he joined Belgian club Spirou Charleroi for the 2024-25 season, where he averaged 8.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game in FIBA Europe Cup competition. This is the same club that former Don Tyrell Roberts suited up for one season prior in 2023-24.
After his time in Belgium, Knudsen signed a three-year contract with BAXI Manresa on June 17, 2025. He returned to Spain after previously coming through the youth system at Casademont Zaragoza, where he made two Liga Endesa appearances.
